The wall-mounted fan for discreet cooling!

It’s summer and temperatures are rising? There’s nothing better than a wall-mounted fan to help you feel cooler on your skin. And to save space, these fans can be wall-mounted! O’Fresh tells you more…

What is a wall fan?

As the name suggests, it’s simply an air blower designed to be wall-mounted. When in operation, it provides permanent freshness to the room, adjustable by remote control. It’s also space-saving, as it doesn’t take up floor space like a fan on a stand or piece of furniture.

The different types of wall-mounted fans

All these fan models are designed for wall mounting with screws.

The fan with blades

These models feature 2 to 5 blades, depending on the model. A propeller directly connected to the motor shaft is driven by the latter. The air displacement produced by the rotating blades is sufficient to cool the air. To optimize the fan’s performance, simply increase the angle of inclination. O’Fresh models with extra-wide blades are also ideal for repelling insects.

The bladeless fan

This latest generation of fans features models resembling a large ring attached to a wall-mounted base. They use a complex technology invented by Dyson, and subsequently adopted by several brands. The bladeless fan is fitted with a very small propeller, invisible because it is installed in the motor block. A thin stream of air is sent through the propeller into the circle, creating an aerodynamic phenomenon that multiplies the air output. The bladeless wall fan is also a designer wall fan appreciated for its high performance, continuous flow of cool air and quiet operation. Its only drawback is that it’s much more expensive than the others.

The outdoor fan

These models, usually installed on a terrace to cool the air during summer evenings, feature blades designed to withstand humidity and an optimal level of electrical protection.

The misting fan system

Suitable for both domestic and professional use, the misting fan simultaneously diffuses air and a fine mist to provide an immediate sensation of freshness. The professional version is particularly well-suited to cooling the terraces of bars, restaurants and other spaces crushed by summer heat. O’Fresh misting fans consume very little water. Some models include an anti-mosquito function. You can add a few drops of lemongrass essential oil or any other essence to achieve the desired effect.

The professional wall fan

These are high-performance air mixers incorporating a propeller capable of mixing large quantities of air. These models are designed to cool large spaces such as workshops, reception halls, etc.

How to choose a wall fan

A number of criteria will help you choose the wall-mounted model best suited to your needs. In particular, you’ll need to consider :

Performance

This is the air flow rate processed by the unit per minute. Performance is expressed as the volume of air mixed in cubic meters per minute. Power varies from 15 to 100 m3/m, depending on the unit. Professional air-mixers found in factories mix up to 150 m3/m. The higher the airflow, the fresher the ventilation. The intensity of the air flow can be adjusted by remote control, enabling the power to be adapted to the ambient heat.

Noise

Noise is a very important factor to consider before purchasing. A noisy fan will prove to be very annoying. It’s advisable not to exceed 40 dB, the same noise standard as for a household appliance. If you want absolute silence, opt for a wall-mounted bladeless fan with a DC motor, such as those offered by O’Fresh.

Style

It’s hard to give advice on the style of fan you’re going to mount on the wall. The choice depends on your interior design. For a modern home, a fan without blades will be more suitable and blend in better with the decor. In a rustic setting, a vintage-inspired fan will be a beautiful decorative element!

Wall fan vs. air conditioner? The fan’s advantages

The advantage of a wall-mounted fan over an air conditioner is that it doesn’t lower the temperature in a room, but only affects the temperature you feel. The fan’s action relies solely on the phenomenon of evaporation of your perspiration on contact with the airflow on your skin. It’s this sensation that lowers your body temperature and gives you that feeling of freshness. By cooling more naturally, as a gentle breeze would, the fan prevents any risk of thermal shock with the outside world, and the associated ailments.

How much does a wall-mounted fan cost?

As with all appliances, wall-mounted fans come in all price ranges. For an entry-level wall-mounted model, expect to pay an average of €50. From €80 upwards, you’ll find a range of models offering optimum performance. On O’Fresh you’ll find wall-mounted fans at all prices, with prices ranging from €500 to €600, depending on the model.
